Slapart debuted on March 26, 2002 with three releases culled from artists
participating in and around a scene centered on a new and exciting party Share
thrown every Sunday at the East Village (NYC) bar OpenAir. The party focused
on spontaneous collaborations in experimental electronic and creative dance
music created by portable electronic devices (laptops, Game Boys, pocket synths,
video projectors, etc.) and still exists today. We went onto release 13 EP-length
works of music in 2002, with a focus on some of the more left-field Share participants
and other artists in the experimental vein.
