Hafler Trio

The Concentrated Recapturing of Thought
Slp-001
clear virgin 180g 10" vinyl with 4-color inner sleeve

The Concentrated Recapturing of Thought is remarkable for its pure beauty. Nineteen-plus minutes of palatial drones that transcend their sonic origins. Andrew McKenzie's recent hyperactivity has produced works of stark aesthetic clarity. The word he uses is "pulchritude" which could be translated for this release as "transcendent beauty." Each work intimates a very specific intention, but the listener is aware that the sounds themselves are meant only to partly reveal the nature of their subject. The packaging and texts may offer a similarly slight glimpse into that nature but there is always something left to contemplate. The intention noted, but never revealed. Pulchritude indeed.

Andrew McKenzie is Hafler Trio. Founded in 1980, Mr. McKenzie has riddled listeners with a wealth of offerings of profound ambient musics, text, and design - all working seamlessly together - to confound the listener. His works offer a limitless source of inspiration for those working in contemporary electronic music and aesthetics. Unfortunately, Andrew McKenzie is dying. 50% of the profit from the sale of this release will go directly to him.
