Nicholas K. (here pictured right) has suffered from tinnitis ever since a childhood encounter with a dysfunctional lawnmower. The birds near his house always kept him awake. They would always start their signature call at 4 in the morning and it would last until well past dawn. A lonely train whistle speeds nightly through the sleepy mill village where he currently lives. It is as if the conductor has been assigned by god to keep the town's only time.
